Postnatal Yoga for New Mums

This workshop provides a haven of calm and 'me -time' for new and not so new mums. It aims to appropriately strengthen and stretch the postnatal body while also promoting deep relaxation and emotional support. 

Physically we will work on:

  • strengthening the back, abdominal and pelvic floor muscles
  • re-aligning the pelvis and posture
  • releasing tension from the upper back, shoulders and neck muscles

We will introduce breathing techniques, restorative postures and deep relaxation to:

  • decrease stress and anxiety
  • rejuvenate and re energise
  • build inner calm

There will also be an opportunity to connect with other mums to share experiences and smiles.
In designing the workshop, Penny has drawn particularly from the expertise of internationally acclaimed women's yoga teacher Uma Dinsmore Tuli, and also from the work of Christine Kent and Claudia Calais Germain, specialists in women's pelvic well being

This workshop is suitable for mums from 12 weeks post partum onwards. No previous experience of yoga is necessary. For practicing yogis, this session will complement general yoga classes, by focusing only on key postnatal issues.

Group size

The workshop will be limited to 7 people. This provides a friendly setting and allows each practitioner to make the most out of the class with the teacher being able to recognize and fulfil everyone's individual needs.
