Massage for People Living with Cancer
Cancer can affect people of all ages and we believe that everyone has the right to nurturing and therapeutic touch.
Massage for people living with cancer has been shown to help reduce symptoms of nausea anxietydepressionfatigue. It is often offered as part of cancer care in cancer centres, hospices, community health services and some GP surgeries.
Masage can be used to help:
- relax your mind and body
- relieve tension
- improve the flow of fluid (lymph) in the lymphatic system
- enhance your mood
Our therapists have trained with Iris Cancer Partnership and as such, are fully qualified to work with you through this difficult time. We often have two therapists in the clinic, so you can book at treatment for yourself and a family member so you both have time to relax and unwind.
Your therapist will be able to tailor the treatment completely to your needs and individual requirements.
Some people are concerned that massage could cause cancer cells to spread to other parts of their body. Cancer does not metastasis or spread by human touch and research shows that comfort oriented massage can be beneficial.
It's a good practice to notify your consultant and let them know you’d like to receive gentle nurturing massage.
