Ayurvedic Reflexology is a unique and amazing fusion of Ayurvedic foot massage (padabhyanga) and Reflexology.
Padabhyanga is a beautiful and relaxing ancient Ayurvedic health care modality, which balances the body, mind and spirit.
This traditional Indian foot massage involves three major components:
- A Kasa bowl (a small metal bowl made of copper, zinc and tin)
- Marma points (Ayurvedic pressure/energy points in the legs and feet)
The treatment begins with cleansing the feet followed by some relaxing foot and lower leg massage using warmed sesame oil - slowly and methodically the calves, ankles, feet and toes are helped to relax.
The treatment continues with special massage moves performed with the Kasa bowl. The three metals of copper, zinc and tin are thought to have the following health benefits: Copper – helpful in reducing pain and inflammation Zinc – assist the immune system and digestion Tin – aid digestion, headaches and insomnia.
The treatment ends with a sequence of marma massage this helps to detoxify and re-balance the body’s energy. Reflexology Reflexology is a safe, non-invasive treatment which stimulates the body’s own natural ability to heal and rebalance.
It involves using a combination of massage and gentle pressure techniques to reflex points and zones on the feet. By applying pressure to these reflex points, the corresponding organs and/or systems within the body can be enhanced.
The fusion of Padabhyanga and Reflexology offers a truly unique and beautifully relaxing treatment.
Please note: if any allergy issues regarding the metals in the Kasa bowl the treatment can be carried out without it and this won’t affect the experience or benefits of the treatment. If allergic to sesame oil an alternative can easily be used.
