Sarah Wheatley, BACP Registered Counsellor
I am a BACP Registered Counsellor, with a background in psychology, social research and community development, giving me a breadth of experience in working with people of all ages, in a variety of contexts.
I work in an integrative way, which means that I adapt my practice to the needs of each person I work with. No one size fits all, and my approach is informed by psychodynamic, person-centred, gestalt and cognitive behavioural theories and models.
Together we will identify what your goals might be and then I use my knowledge and experience to help you reach these. I work to understand what is going on for you and then help you see that more clearly, or from a different viewpoint.
A non-judgemental, trusted relationship is key to the success of our work together, and will help you make the commitment required for counselling, even when it feels hard.
I work in accordance with BACP and COSCA guidelines and ethical standards.
I qualified as a counsellor after the birth of my first child, and have a special interest in supporting new parents, which is why I set up Birth and Beyond in 2014. I am also trained in Newborn Observation Systems with the Brazelton Institute (UK.
