Sarah Hulme, Child Psychologist
I am a mother to three amazing children and I am a Chartered Psychologist. I set up Connect after the birth of my first daughter in 2011. In 2015, Connected Parenting expanded, and with Julie Yuill (chartered psychologist), we now offer a full range of parenting support services to parents as well as to professionals (Connect to thrive).
As a Psychologist with many years of experience working with children and families, I was surprised and sometimes shocked at the amount of advice that came my way as a new mum that had little or no evidence base to it.
I have a passion for research and for supporting families to use this research to trust in their own instincts when it comes to parenting their child. In setting up Connected Parenting, I wanted to use my knowledge of child psychology to help parents negotiate a path through all of the conflicting information and advice to find a way that works for them as a family. Connected Parenting uses the psychology of attachment, attunement and empowerment to guide our work with parents and children.
All of our workshops, courses and consultations keep the relationship and attachment between parent and child as central. Using these theories of attachment and attunement helps babies and toddlers to develop into confident and independent children.
