Jen Syme, Massage Therapist
Before becoming a Massage Therapist I worked in the corporate world as a computer programmer, but my true interest has always been in complementary therapies, holistic living and environmental concerns. First hand experience of the stresses of work, commuting and finding that elusive work-life balance as well as backache and RSI from desk/PC work prompted me to seek a new, more satisfying career and I started bodywork training in 2005.
I aim to treat everyone as an individual, using all my skills to treat your body and your situation appropriately. This means that I do not do a routine treatment, but incorporate different techniques to help you feel better.
The most satisfying part of my work is when people tell me how much better they feel after their treatment as they leave smiling, having come in with pain and/or stress weighing them down.
I strongly believes that massage forms part of a regular, maintenance routine and that everyone can benefit from taking some time for themselves, to promote their own well being and good health.
Qualifications and Experience
I completed my Diplomas in Swedish Massage, then Remedial and Sports Massage with the Scottish Schools of Massage. I then undertook a Diploma in Massage for Pregnancy with WellMother. In between those I also gained Certificates in Indian Head Massage, Reiki and Hands Free Massage (with Ronnie Allan).
I am continuously building my skills and knowledge with workshops and courses with renowned schools such as Jing(most recently my MFR certificate). I am a full member of the SMTO (the professional body for massage in Scotland) and the CNHC regulatory body for therapies.
I have my own massage business at JS Therapies:
