Claire Black, Massage Therapist
I began my career as a Massage Therapist after the birth of my second son in 2010. My previous career was in Property sales and marketing. With two small children to look after I felt a new journey was calling and Massage Therapy had always interested me since having regular massage during my first pregnancy with KnotStressed’s founder Onie Tibbitt.
I trained and am registered with the Scottish School of Massage and gained my diploma in Swedish Massage in 2012. I set up my own business ‘Essential Health Massage Therapy’ and have gained further qualifications over the years.
I find it deeply satisfying helping people to feel better through massage. Many clients come to me to de-stress, cope with their anxiety or depression or for more targeted pain relief such as relief from a sore shoulder, back, knee etc. I tend not to follow a specific massage routine but treat every client specific to their needs. Some people feel instant relief and for others it can take a few sessions. I have had tremendous feedback from all of my clients to date.
I am a member of The Scottish Massage Therapists Organisation and also of Athletes Angels providing massage at sporting events throughout Scotland. This has included working at The Edinburgh Marathon, Pedal for Scotland.
I am qualified in:
Diploma in Swedish Massage (Scottish Massage Schools - 2012)
Diploma in Advanced Deep Tissue Massage and Trigger point Therapy (Gateway workshops - 2013)
Post Graduate workshop in Pregnancy Massage (KnotStressed Therapies - 2014)
Diploma in Indian Head Massage (Gateway workshops - 2015)
Post Graduate workshop in Postnatal Massage (KnotStressed Therapies - 2016)
Diploma in Remedial and Sports Massage (Scottish Massage Schools - 2016)
Diploma in Seated Accupressure On Site Massage (Gateway Workshops - 2017)
Diploma in Hot Stone Massage (Gateway Workshops - 2018)
As well as working at KnotStressed Therapies, I work from my home in Corstorphine and also offer a mobile massage Therapy service within the Edinburgh area.
