Edinburgh Pregnancy & Birth Information & Support Group

This is a fantastically reassuring and feel-good group session. An opportunity for you to have face-to-face time with a midwife in a group setting where you can ask any questions about pregnancy and birth, your birth rights and options.

Who leads the group?

This informal information group is run by Sally Haldane every 5-6 weeks. Sally has many years experience working as a midwife within the NHS including the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, Birth Centre and as part of the Community Home Birth Team.

What is involved?

You are welcome to come on your own, or with your partner, birth partner, family member or a friend. The sessions are very relaxed with plenty time for questions and discussion. You are also welcome to simply listen to what others wish to say and enjoy the general group discussion.

There is the option for a short relaxation exercise to finish.

Group size:

We limit this group to 5 pregnant women and partners/birth partners, ensuring a friendly setting and allowing the teacher to tailor the session to the your individual needs.

If booked in advance: £10 per pregnant woman and birth partner

If booked on the day: £15 per pregnant woman and birth partner

I cannot recommend this enough if you’re expecting. I have come away from the sessions feeling so positive with a lot of my anxieties about birth lifted. My husband also attended and it was great to get our questions answered about birth in a friendly and welcoming environment. We both feel informed, relaxed and ready to be new parents.
